Microwave Minutiae

Most people like punching in microwave seconds in multiples of 10. You know, 20 seconds, 30 seconds, etc. I prefer multiples of 11.

Since my finger is already on the 4, why do a search for the number zero when I can just hit 4 again? It's way more efficient.

I like doing that, or also, I like hitting the numbers that lead to the start button. 28, 38, stuff like that. Like the numbers have a destination.

I totally do that too! but I can't take the credit for it, my sister showed it to me.

What about popcorn?! A few seconds seperates perfectly delightful popcorn from burned disappointment. Otherwise, I think your plan is great. I may try it.

I agree, what about popcorn? There are others things about microwaves that I have been pondering. My roommate can't stand, and I mean CANNOT stand when extra minutes are on the display. Everything must be either turned off, or at the clock. She loses it and starts yelling at the ceiling. Then she calms down and pushes the clear button and walks away. Wow.

Cooking popcorn is like censoring Mr. Rogers: completely unnecessary.

The only thing popcorn does is makes you thirsty, and greasy, and fills your teeth and back-of-throat with kernel shards.

Did you know that popcorn was the first food to be intentionally microwaved?? It's true!! A scientist was doing experiments involving microwaves and noticed that that a candy bar in his pocket had melted, so being the curious fellow he was, he put some popcorn kernels next to the contraption, and sure enough, they popped!! That led to a series of other microwave-food experiments which eventually gave way to the microwave oven!! ...Therefore I think I've proved that without popcorn we'd have no microwave ovens at all. Ad hoc ergo proper hoc, Thad...think about it, Think, think about it.

There's a popcorn button for popcorn and you don't even have to press start afterwards. One button, one time that's all. It just automatically starts...I don't know why this is a problem for anyone.

I totally do that too! Though now I have a +30 sec button and a lot of times I only am microwaving something for 30 seconds anyway...so that gets used a lot
